"I survived so that others would know they are not alone — and so the world would finally understand what survival really costs."

— Hunter Cole

The Survivor Project is a deeply personal exhibit born from Hunter Cole's experience with domestic violence and strangulation. It exists to bear witness, to educate, and to stand alongside every person who has lived through what the world too often refuses to name.

Strangulation is one of the most lethal forms of domestic violence — and one of the least understood. This exhibit changes that.

The Exhibit

Survivor Project

An immersive exhibit on strangulation and domestic violence

Through photography, testimony, and art, the Survivor Project confronts the reality of strangulation in domestic violence — its physical toll, its psychological weight, and the extraordinary resilience of those who survive it.

Abstract light and shadow — symbolic of survival
Silhouette in golden light — empowerment and dignity
Hands clasped — human connection and support

80%
of strangulation cases leave no visible marks — making it nearly invisible to the justice system
3 million
women in the U.S. are physically assaulted by an intimate partner every year
